Support the Co-op Conversion of One Africa Health Resort

Repaired Nations has partnered with Abibikwantuo to purchase the One Africa Resort and Restaurant and turn it into a cooperative. The original owners have retired, so we have come together to keep their vision alive while doubling our impact, and we are now running a crowdfunding campaign called “The One Africa Project”.

What We Do

Community Education & Technical Assistance

Repaired Nations hosts book clubs to learn Black cooperative economic history, and workshops to teach the nuts and bolts of starting a cooperative. The final output for mature startups is an understanding of the cooperative framework and business plan.

Funding & Infrastructure

For mature cooperatives, Repaired Nations proposes start-up, operating, or real estate loans to Seed Commons’ National Sustainability Committee. In addition, Repaired Nations secures funding for Oaxxanda, a live-work cooperative complex for Black and Brown residents of Oakland and Richmond.

Network & Advisory

Repaired Nations hosts the Black Solidarity Conference; 2022’s virtual conference showcased & connected Black co-ops from across the U.S. & Africa. The 5th Annual conference will be held in Ghana. We’ve also advised & built community with East Oakland Neighborhood Initiative, CA Reparations Task Force, Seed Commons & more.

  • “Repaired Nations is building skills and tools for Black economic self-determination. As a funder, I am grateful for the opportunity to support work that is radically shifting future possibilities."

  • “I have acquired better decision making, accountability, and self-confidence from Repaired Nations. I am confident that I will be able to apply these skills where and when they are needed.”
